Eastside Business Briefing: State of the Eastside — A Morning of Reflection, Progress & Partnership
On May 20, 2025, community leaders, residents, business owners, and partners came together at The Witte Museum for the Eastside Business Briefing: State of the Eastside — a powerful gathering to reflect on the journey of San Antonio’s Eastside, celebrate milestones, and recommit to building an inclusive, thriving future for this historic community

This annual briefing, hosted by San Antonio for Growth on the Eastside (SAGE), offered an opportunity to pause and look at where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re heading — together. The event brought voices from across sectors to share insights, highlight progress, and spark collaboration that strengthens neighborhoods and supports local businesses.
A Message of Progress & Partnership
One of the most inspiring moments of the morning was hearing from leaders who are deeply connected to the Eastside’s growth. We were honored to have the Mayor join the conversation and stand side-by-side with SAGE’s CEO — a snapshot of partnership and shared commitment that truly set the tone for the day.

Through thoughtful discussion and community reflection, attendees heard about the strides being made — from business support and investment to cultural initiatives and neighborhood resilience.
Honoring Leadership
A highlight of the event was when the Mayor was presented with the Key to the City, symbolizing gratitude for civic leadership and dedication to the Eastside’s future. This moment captured the spirit of unity and shared purpose felt throughout the room.

What State of the Eastside Means
The State of the Eastside isn’t just a title — it’s a checkpoint in our collective story. It celebrates victories, acknowledges challenges, and invites every resident, business owner, and partner to be part of what comes next. Over the past year, efforts across infrastructure, small business development, cultural preservation, and community investment have continued to move the Eastside forward — and this briefing highlighted those efforts with pride.
Looking Ahead
As the Eastside continues to evolve, one thing remains clear: growth and progress are strongest when rooted in community, collaboration, and respect for the people who call this place home. The 2025 State of the Eastside reminded us that we are stronger together, and that every voice matters in shaping the future.
