Meet Acqunetta. She is a native Eastside resident who had a dream to own her own soul food restaurant, D&N Kitchen.

Like many small business owners on the Eastside, Acqunetta faced barriers to capital, visibility, and technical support. SAGE helped her with a storefront grant allowing her to improve the physical appearance of her business and better attract and serve customers.
 
Acqunetta was part of SAGE’s inaugural Small Business Support Cohort, where she received hands-on guidance in business operations, strategy, and growth planning. 
 
Today, D&N Kitchen stands as more than a restaurant—it is a testament to what is possible when long-time residents are supported with the right resources at the right time. Acqunetta’s journey illustrates how coordinated investment in local entrepreneurs can create pathways to economic stability, community pride, and neighborhood revitalization on the Eastside.

Monthly
Giving?

Grants are increasingly difficult to obtain and often only fund specific projects. Monthly donors allow SAGE to respond quickly to emerging community needs, support entrepreneurs and residents year-round, and invest where opportunities arise.

❓ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why $19.98 a month?
SAGE was founded in 1998. The amount is a nod to the year neighbors first organized for the Eastside — and a reminder that this work is measured in decades, not campaigns. You're welcome to give more or less; every amount becomes a sustaining gift.
Can I change or cancel my monthly gift?
Anytime, no questions asked. Change your amount or cancel your gift with one email or a couple of clicks in your Paypal account.
Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes. SAGE is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so your monthly gifts are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. You'll get a receipt for each gift and one consolidated annual statement in January.
Where does the money actually go?
Directly into Eastside programming: technical assistance for small businesses, community convenings, placemaking projects and the staff time it takes to do them well. Sustainers get a plain-language impact update every quarter.
Is my payment information secure?
Payments are processed by an encrypted, PCI-compliant payment processor. SAGE never stores your card number, and we never sell or share your information.
I already give annually. Should I switch?
Only if it's easier for you. Many sustainers keep their annual gift and add a monthly one — but if you'd rather convert your yearly support into monthly giving, just tell us and we'll handle it.
